Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary

I've been having lots of great meetings the last couple of days which I'm planning to write up fully soon, but a 6am fishing trip tomorrow with the California Collaborative Fisheries Research Program (CCFRP) beckons.

In the meantime, do check out this video produced as part of the outreach for the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS). This is a federal designation rather than a state designation, managed by NOAA, but overlaps with several of the State Marine Reserves and is larger than Yellowstone National Park. It was designated way back in 1992, thanks to local pressure right here in Santa Cruz.

I went to the MBNMS Exploration Center here today and was really impressed by what they have going on there. What's more, it's free entry, in prime location for visitors and right by the pier, beach and boardwalk.

More on my other meetings to come, but in the meantime, enjoy!
